Beginning in 2020, NALTO began its grassroots efforts to educate members of the United States Congress about the locum tenens industry and support legislation that retains approximately 52,000 locum tenens providers who provide care to over 7.5 million Americans every year.
With the well-documented existing and forecasted provider shortage, healthcare facilities and their patients cannot afford to lose providers from the labor pool. Quite simply, lives are at stake.
That’s why the House of Representatives introduced The Healthcare Provider Shortage Minimization Act (HR 5208). This legislation will help address the growing healthcare staffing shortage which impacts millions of Americans seeking critical healthcare services nationwide and particularly in rural communities.
